Slashkernel takes on the world in the Brussels Ekiden 2018!

Slashkernel is proud to be participating in the Brussels Ekiden 2018 at King Baudouin Stadium on September 29th!

Ekiden (駅伝) is a type of long-distance relay road race that originated in Japan at the beginning of the 20th century.  Ekiden are very different from typical road races in that they really provide a coordinated team racing experience, with the runners completing the race together rather than racing against one another.

Teams of 6 employees will be joining the race this year to compete with other runners from all over Europe!  Each of the six runners will run a leg of the race ranging from 5 – 10 km in length.

In order to prepare for the race, Yves, Head of ontologies at ERTMS Solutions/Personal trainer, is leading Team Slashkernel in two morning training sessions a week!  We do a lot of running, interval training, and strength training. Yves also has us on a very strict diet to help us build strength and optimize our performance on race-day (no more Thursday morning pastries)!

Stay tuned for photos, videos, and updates on our progress!
